San Quirico d'Orcia

Entrance to the town
San Quirico d'Orcia is one among several towns scattered through the Val d'Orcia area. One of many, but each of them do have something unique and intimately different. So, if you happen to pass near by San Quirico, make sure you stop by. It is located in the near of Montalcino and Pienza.

The walled town is quite small and you can visit it a few hours.

Make sure to pass by during lunch or dinner time as there are a few very interesting eating places: the "Osteria del Cardinale"in Via Dante Alighieri 35 (very close to the Collegiata and Palazzo Chigi) or the "Osteria Ristorante degli Archi" in the same street at number 24 in a very charming original building with small internal garden.

Be sure to spend some time also in the garden "Horti Leonini", near one of the town entrance: a great example of Italian style garden.

I have noticed that in this town, more than in other places, most shops, bars, restaurants are "real", not plastic and fake touristic places.
